Rev. Dr. David MacDonald

Hello! I am the university chaplain at Ohio Northern University, located in Ada, Ohio. I am a husband (to Kelly, my wife of 20 years), father (to Rebecca and Daniel), dog lover (my dogs are Mack and Cheese), and servant to two cats (Luna and Jupiter). I received my M.Div., with a concentration in urban ministry and spirituality, at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, and my D.Min. in Spiritual Direction from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. I see my collegiate ministry at ONU as one of spiritual direction to the campus, and I also provide spiritual direction and consultation in youth ministry through Glenbogle Spiritual Direction and Ministry Consulting: https://www.facebook.com/glenboglespiritualdirection/

I also occasionally blog at a page called The Grumpy Contemplative: https://thegrumpycontemplative.wordpress.com/

My approach to spiritual direction is informed by the Wesleyan question of “How is it with your soul?” as well as the spiritual practices of the Benedictine tradition. I utilize silence, listening, and asking open and honest questions in my practice of direction, and I sometimes incorporate artistic expression and creativity exercises into sessions.

Rev. Dr. Todd Spencer

Hello! My name is Todd Spencer. I completed my spiritual direction training with the Shalem Institute. I agree with Father Richard Rohr - we don't have to become other-worldly, pure, perfect, or highly religious to participate with God in God’s work. And I assume that God is already working in and around each and every one of us. The question is, are we awake, partaking and participating with that Presence?  I have loved providing spiritual direction for the past 15 years. In spiritual direction, I enjoy providing a person with a time of slowing down — usually with a brief reading and some music — and then helping them take a loving look at their everyday life to notice where God’s love is moving, as well as where it is harder to notice that movement. If you would like to learn more about me, check out my weekly Lectio Divina (when in doubt) Podcast at  www.lectiodivinatodd.com

Rev. Dr. Sallie Suby-Long

Hi Everyone!  My name is Sallie Suby-Long and I love being present for people as they listen for what is sacred in their lives through Spiritual Direction. I believe transformation happens as we simply pay attention to our everyday emotions, experiences, and especially to what brings us fulfillment.  There is something uplifting about pausing to breathe and welcome new insights, guidance and knowing – often our wisdom is present for us all along.  And, simply clearing the external expectations - even for a brief time - can illuminate our inner knowing. In addition to being a spiritual director, I am a counselor, certified appreciative coach, ordained minister, and professor. My sincere hope is to offer compassionate support for people to experience growth and healing. Depending on preferences, I sometimes weave music, prayerful meditation, and personal development tools such as the Enneagram into spiritual direction.  If you would like to know a little more about me, take a quick look at the Center for Spiritual Engagement. Better known as CSE, our purpose is to foster healing and wholeness in mind, body, heart, and spirit through experiences that inspire connection and wellbeing. http://www.stlukescse.org/  I look forward to connecting with you!
